All's Faire

Robin may have
mentioned that she has an alter-ego
she may have mentioned that her alter-ego pursues acting and works
Renascence faires as a princess or duchess.

Now she will tell you more stories about them, and all the trouble she does cause.

Once upon a time, in the land of not so long ago, Robin did play the Duchess Andromeda Praetoria of WinterHall of the Iron Peaks. She does have another blog all about her costume.

She does get to walk around and look pretty day. She has been told that actors don't know how to work hard...she disagrees. Do you have any idea what ti takes to look put togather, on pose, and always on your toes all day? She certainly doesn't envy the queens of old!!

She does have a sister, and they do both get into trouble. They both wear the same color gowns, both styled the same. They are both strawberry blond and wear black corsets and tiaras.
Their own father did get them both mixed up.
It has been told to them that before the end of the run they may amass an army of man-followers.
Robin doubts this, but her sister enjoys the idea.

Robin did take over the throne the other day. She then called for Pirates and Ice Cream to be brought to her, but none came. The only thing that was brought to her was the Queen, who very shortly put an end to the Duchess's rule.

She taught the Duke to dance and they preformed upon stage for the Wooing Contest. They did win.

She did wear Sir Friz Wotwot Von Friz Wot, A very dashing firbie, upon her head. He was a bit suicidal and leaped off when she did give a jouster a hug.

She has tromped through mud puddles, danced in the rain, kidnapped the exchecker (check book in ye olde English!), and had a fine old time whist doing it.

She has managed to stab a sword through her dress (a metal one), worn a training ring from the joust field as a hat, helped a beautiful little princess become a member of the royal guard academy, seen the royal guard carried away, saved the queen from the vikings, and plans to do far more.

She has a pretty normal life.

Into Glory

Today
 Robin rescued a parachutist.
She was thrown in a detention cell, climbed into a tree stump,  threatened her father, ran wildly through the woods, was thrown out of her bunk bed, lived through an explosion, and was shot by her brother. Multiple times.

She loves film magic.

There's something about seeing people come together and break out of their shells to contribute heart and soul that she just
can't find anywhere else!
And you know what -- that's what keeps her coming back.

Robin spent the last week filming the first part of a two week shoot - this week she's filming the second half.
Today the cast got to climb down into a tunnel inside a tree stump. It was sandy and Robin ended up with sand in her pockets.
They also got to shove the 'injured' actor down the stump headfirst.
It was only slightly too small for his shoulders and they only ripped his jacket a little.

She then was able to 'romp' (or trip) through the woods at the head of her gang in search of a downed pilot, who was hung up in a tree next to a bed sheet. He turned out to be impossible to get down, but the whole gang made a valiant effort to get him out of the limbs.
So much so they ended up wearing much more of the tree then the tree was.

They then got to film in a little pen in a very old barn. Once it was told to them that the pen had been used to hold calves, but that was a very long time ago....and unfortunately, smells like that don't age well.
They had to duck to get into the cell, and to get out they climbed over the wall using a very old and very rickety ladder. It was the precarious hay bale step stool on the other side that made a fellow actor fall on Robin's head. She has a 'little' bruise.

Of course no film is complete with out the token bombing, which took place in the Barracks...and Robin got to fling herself off the bunk. She only got stuck on the side once or twice.

Roll 'Em!

Last week
Robin didst start the first of two weeks of filming on her latest feature film.
(Did we mention that she does have an alter-ego who is an actress?)

She managed to melt her fake leather jacket, impersonate Captain America, get kidnapped,
run into a bunk bed, do some stunt driving, and loose her watch.
It was a pretty good week.

The film is was a spoof of an old TV Show, and Robin was cast to be the lead role three years ago. This will be the third and final film in the trilogy, and Robin can't wait to film the rest of it this week!
She laughed, she cried, and she danced and got to be Captain America - life cannot get better then that!!

Filming was scheduled months ago...the fact that it was over 100 degrees F outside during the shoot did not denture the fantastic cast - Robin included. It did however, proceed to melt her jacket.
Apparently fake leather cannot take temperatures over 80 F. Who knew?
Even better is the fact it completely melted down to only the lining...underneath her armpits...

The film involved several dramatic escape scenes, where in several actors got to stuff themselves into a car trunk and be driven away. Did you know that it's almost impossible to fit four people in a Pontiac trunk??
....Almost...

Did you know that throwing heavy shield props at actors who are not heavily padded is a bad idea?
Robin was told this and not aloud to touch her shield again.
But it was an awesome shot!
(seriously, no one was inured, Robin was very careful about that)
(The captain Amrica bit will be in a Music Video on youtoube later this summer)

Robin's character has a new love interest in this film, and it turns out one of her alter-ego's good friends was cast to play the part....they did have fun with the scenes.
Batman may have to kill him.
'Bismarck' as the love interest shall be called here in, had a lovely tie...that Robin decided would make a good leash. She did take him for a long walk around the set, but decided that a horse was more to her liking, so Bismarck decided he would gallop away with her into the sunset...quite literally.
Robin's alter-ego has to stop being carried away by her on-screen love interests.
There were also adventures with the little Gnome who appears somewhere in the background of every scene (who tapped to the hood of the race car),
and getting locked in the tunnel entrance on set (for a half of a very sweaty hour),
and chasing bad guys (and being chased by bad guys)
and cameras falling on actors (only the odd ones...like them all)
and the little Ken Doll who became someone's body double (he was almost as handsome...and he ate less)
...and more melting....

But Robin will not bore you will all the details - she wants you to watch the film you know!!

Oh Canada!!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Elanna and I am a modern day Super-Sidekick.
I go by the code name
'Robin'
and for the record,
I hate the color red.
Robin will now refer to herself in the third person.

My life is pretty standard....if you work as a vigilante in Gotham City, dance on moving cars, catch spies and daylight with a joust troupe.
What follows shall be the tales of my life. For reasons of interest, I shall mix the true and the fiction. Although, you know what they say - fact is stranger then fiction!!
And in my case it's rather true.

Recently I returned from visiting Batman in Ottawa. (That's Canadian Ottawa) And let me say, it was a fantastic trip...with a few normal misadventures along the way.
......

It all started with Robin reached the airport. She was traveling in her alter ego as an up and coming film actress, so as not to arouse the public's suspicion. As the Bat-Jet was in for repairs (and Batman currently has it) She was taking a commercial flight to Ottawa, and though she had not traveled on this flight before, she felt fairly confident she would have no problems.
Boy was she wrong.
At first she though maybe it was the fact she was striding through the airport rather determinedly (as though she knew her way) , that brought the first few passersby to her side with questions. Apparently not, however, for when she had finally found her gate of departure, the folks kept right on coming.
Robin repressed the urge to tell them she was off duty.
She valiantly told all who asked that this was her first time in the airport and she didn't know where the bus terminal was located, nor where the customs gate was, nor where gate B5 could be found, or how to eat Popsicles.
Ok, she may not have told them the last one.
After fending off the civilians who thronged to her side, she boarded the plane with no problems and took of into the wild blue yonder!
But it was not the end of her adventure.
For besides visiting Batman, Robin was flying to Ottawa to attend a Renaissance Faire (her alter ego, the actress, works many of these as a princess or duchess - like in Disney land)
As a princess, the only job you have is to entertain millions! Or at least millions of little children who flock to you. Perhaps Robin should have been taking notes at the airport.
Either way, she was entirely unprepared for the number of adoring little fans she did acquire at this faire.
Our favorite modern day Super-Sidekick not only charmed the little ones, but she preformed a 'daring rescue' (and her good deed for the day) by helping reunite a very lost little princess with her frantic mother.
Being a super-sidekick, Robin knew that all little girls are fascinated with princesses, especially real life ones - so she simply knelt down and talked with the young one for a few moments, and the delighted little girl was more then happy to show the 'Pretty Princess' where she had last seen her mother. The little one's mother was overjoyed to see her youngest daughter again!
Robin is of the opinion she didn't do much, though her Mother says otherwise.
Next in line was the joust - by Robin's joust troupe- which she was required to attend when several young ladies asked to sit with her.
Her handmaiden was most frustrated as Robin kept giving up her seat to the throngs of little girls who wanted to sit with her.
Oh, and she attracted several young knights to her side as well.
One young gentleman, he must have been six or seven - did take hold of her hand, bow and say to her, "My lady, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen."
She was most flattered.
And wondered if he had a good father or a bad father for teaching him that.
One young princess even made her a portrait... and not one, but TWO young girls returned the next day dressed in blue just to match Robin.

And of course she got to spend time with Batman.
:)
But even there the adventures did not end....
For when Batman and Robin went out to eat with their good friends, they all did get lost. But this adventure was less exciting as Batman was driving and Robin did not feel she had to worry in the Batmobile.

Incidentally, Robin did not get mobbed by people on her way back through the airport.
The End
For now
